Black Swan Folk Club

E-Newsletter 243

6th December 2020

Hello everyone

Time for another newsletter, but I'm afraid although things look generally more optimistic now with hopefully a return to near normality in a few months, it still appears that nothing is written in stone.
Although we had hoped to put on some socially distanced gigs with Roberts and Lakeman in November and a Black Swan Christmas special in a few weeks, both events have had to be put on hold. It looks like the Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman concert will probably now take place next year around October with the Black Swan Christmas Show being held back until next Christmas. Regarding tickets purchased for the Roberts and Lakeman concert, refunds are now available from the National Centre for Early Music Box Office.
The Kaia Kater concert mentioned in the last newsletter has now been cancelled. Once again ticket refunds are available from the point of purchase.
Listed below are the events for which you can now buy tickets. You'll notice that the Eliza Carthy and Restitute Band night has once again been postponed and will now take place on 8 September 2021. Tickets already purchased remain valid for the new date, or if required, refunds are available from the point of purchase.

So here are our 2021 events for which tickets are currently on sale. (We're presenting these events in conjunction with York promoters Please Please You).

Other performers we're hoping to see in 2021 include:-

Still going strong the Black Swan 'Virtual' Folk Club available on our YouTube channel (Black Swan Folk Club York UK). There's a new club session posted every Thurs evening. Go to the Playlist for the date that you want to watch. If you haven't visited our 'virtual' club it features performances from familiar faces who regularly fill the guest spot at the club, as well as clips from resident singers and performers. It really helps us if you subscribe to our channel. Links to the 'Virtual' club nights are on the Virtual Folk Club page on our website www.blackswanfolkclub.org.uk/vclub.cfm
So while our Folk Club at the Black Swan remains closed and we don't have any external events planned over the Christmas period, our friends in York with whom we promote many events are still managing to go ahead with some Socially Distanced Live Music.

At the Crescent Club YORK YO24 1AW there's TREMULOUS MONK & WOLF SOLENT on Monday 20 December at 7pm and THE HYDE FAMILY JAM On Tuesday 22 December and Wed 23 December at 7pm

That's all for this newsletter and as it's unlikely we'll be putting another one out this year, may we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy 2021. Watch the website, Facebook and Twitter for the latest updates and don't forget the Black Swan 'Virtual' Folk Club has a new playlist every Thursday with a special Christmas show planned for Thursday December 17th.

Please, keep 2 metres apart, keep washing your hands, wear a mask where you need to and stay well. Looking forward to some top live folk music in 2021.
